Signs of Safety in Liverpool
Liverpool Safeguarding Children Partnership are funding the implementation of the Signs of Safety approach to practice in Liverpool. We’re doing this because we have the highest aspirations for all our children and young people as evidenced by our commitment to make Liverpool “A Child Friendly City” (CFC) and our ambition to ensure that all our children and young people enjoy the best possible quality of life reaching their full potential.
It is important to note that this is a partnership commitment – not just Children’s Services. This means that there is a commitment from all partner agencies to make the necessary arrangements to ensure implementation is successful.
We are adopting this model of practice across our safeguarding continuum – from Early Help through to Children becoming Looked After.
We have establishing a multi-agency Strategic Steering group to drive Signs of Safety, with members from a range of partner agencies including Children’s Services, Health, Education and Police.
We have also be identifying Practice Leads and Service Champions to drive the changes needed to embed this approach to practice across our services and working with colleagues to identify system changes and develop quality assurance measures.
We have formally launched Signs of Safety and have changes our systems to support recording of our new practice. This will help drive changes across the partnership. Implementation will be slow and steady and will develop and evolve within teams and across services
Bringing a new approach to practice across all areas of our services will be challenging!! It will also be exciting and we hope it will invigorate and motivate staff in all positions.
