LSCP Safeguarding Practice Review Group
The Safeguarding Practice Review Group is responsible for undertaking and establishing the need for a Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review or any other review, ensuring that actions, based on recommendations from reviews, are implemented. In addition the Safeguarding Practice Review Group work with the LSCP Learning & Development Group towards ensuring that the lessons are learned and any required changes to practice are implemented.
The Group has responsibility for monitoring the quality of work, commissioned by LSCP, from independent consultants including authors of overview reports and chairs of the review process.
The group has responsibility for monitoring implementation of single agency action plans. Multi agency action plans are monitored by the LSCP Quality Assurance Group.
The Safeguarding Practice Review Group contributes to the LSCP annual report.
The Standing Safeguarding Practice Review Group meets once a month.
Purpose:
Undertaking and establishing the need for a Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review (LCSPR) or any other review, ensuring that actions, based on recommendations from reviews, are forwarded to the LSCP Quality Assurance Group for implementation and oversight.
In addition, the Safeguarding Practice Review Group work with the LSCP Learning & Development Group towards ensuring that the lessons are learned and any required changes to practice are implemented.
Accountability:
The LSCP's Safeguarding Practice Review Group will be accountable to the LSCP Quality Assurance Group and to the LSCP Executive.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the quality of work, commissioned by the LSCP, from independent consultants including authors of overview reports and chairs of the review process.
- Monitoring implementation of single agency action plans. Multi agency action plans are monitored by the LSCP Quality Assurance Group.
- Supporting the Quality & Assurance Group with meeting the recommendations from Local Safeguarding Children Practice Reviews.
- Reporting outcomes of work considered by the Safeguarding Practice Review Group to LSCP and National Panel if required.
- Sharing learning from work considered by Safeguarding Practice Review Group or reviews with the LSCP Learning & Development Group.
- Contributing towards the LSCP Annual Report.
- Reviewing cases submitted to the Safeguarding Practice Review Group and monitoring and recording the decisions made.
Meetings & Frequency:
- The Safeguarding Practice Review Group will meet in person every 5-weeks.
- Rapid Review Panel meetings will be convened in response to serious incidents or cases of serious concern within 15 working days.
- SPRG Triage attended by Police. Health, Children Social Care and LSCP Safeguarding Manager will take place weekly to review any SIN referrals.
Serious Incident Referrals to the Liverpool Safeguarding Children Partnership
All agencies and professionals in the LSCP partnership can refer serious incidents to be considered for a multi-agency learning review. Before a referral is made the professional should discuss the child's circumstance with their safeguarding lead. Professionals can also consult about potential referrals and who your safeguarding lead is with the LSCP Safeguarding Manager.
Referrals are made using the LSCP SPRG referral form 2025.
