Why Signs of Safety?
Evidence suggests that using Signs of Safety supports a greater degree of understanding between professionals and families where there are concerns about the child welfare.
We also know that where families engage well and share an understanding of what it is the professional is worried about (even if they don’t agree) they are more likely to work with professionals to agree and achieve common best outcomes for their children.

As a result of using Signs of Safety and through delivery of high quality practice in partnership with families, we subsequently expect to see:
- Fewer re referrals as we support families to become more resilient and able to develop their own solutions which are tested and shown to be sustainable within the family and support network
- More children safely remaining with their families
- The right children coming into care and remaining when in care within stable placements
- Robust partnership working with increased job satisfaction and strong recruitment and retention
